Year in Review questions to ask yourself

Do you find doing a “Year in review” helpful (even if kept private) and if so what sort of questions do you ask yourself?

For me

  • Review of key metrics like traffic, sales, support.
  • Summary of product updates
  • Summary of marketing work
  • General industry/niche trends
  • What went well?
  • What didn’t go well?
  • Personal Goals & Motivation
  • Major goals for next year

I saw Adrian Rosebrock’s tweet on this the other day and thought these questions were the most important (to me):

They’re perfect to help define what you want to get rid of and what you want more of in the coming year.

Having a list of goals you want to achieve helps too, because it also gives you something to look back on at the end of the year and create a scorecard for yourself. IMO, it only works if you are revisiting it periodically, like monthly or quarterly. If you put it away until next Dec, you might be unpleasantly surprised to find not much happened… :smiley:
