Tools to block websites

Any recommendations for a tool to help block websites (preferably with a whitelist) for a certain amount of time?

I.e. hit “Stop me faffing about dammit!” button and it blocks all but a handful of white-listed sites for an hour.

I’ll put together all options in a sheet and share, but any recommendations?

One feature I am looking for (seen it somewhere previously I am sure but can’t find it now) is an “emergency unlock” where you can unlock it, but its a pain. Maybe something like inputting a big number or a “Are you sure, you can confirm you’re weak in 60 seconds” dialog.

I’m liking Focus (https://heyfocus.com) for this. Really, really flexible and configurable.

Anything for those of us on Windows?

RescueTime is a mess from a UX perspective, but it works well once you get
the hang of it.

Cold Turkey works well, but the user interface is a little strange and there are some bugs.
I’m reasonably satisfied with it, though, and I’ve been using it for years. https://getcoldturkey.com/

Firefox: LeechBlock

Cold Turkey did not work for me at all. The sites are just not blocked. May be it is because I use a proxy (corp environment)?

Oh, I see:

The process cannot access the file 'C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

In my corp environment that file is not accessible for regular users.

P.S. The author should really be invited over here – I believe he/she’d benefit from providing a trial for the Pro version.
